Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight. Grades above 100 mean the target cannot be reached on this final alone.

Worked examples

88 now, final worth 20 %, want a 90: (90 − 88 × 0.8) ÷ 0.2 = 98. Possible, but not much room.
95 now, final worth 25 %, want a 90: (90 − 95 × 0.75) ÷ 0.25 = 75. You can drop 20 points on the final and keep the A.

How it is calculated

Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight, with the weight as a fraction. A result above 100 means the target is out of reach on this final; below 0 means you already have it.
